Upper Intermediate to Advanced Level - Podcasts - Your thoughts

Hi Everyone,

For the last few months I have been listening to Podcasts, and I'm really enjoying them. I think my listening skills in conversations has improved immensely because when I listen to podcasts, I am quite focused on the listening, especially if the topic is really engaging. This focus seems to be transferring over to face-to-face communication skills, and I've become really aware of how it is making me a better communicator.
While listening the The Blindboy Podcast (An Irish Artist) today, I started thinking to myself - what makes a podcast a good podcast?

So what are your thoughts
What makes a podcast a good podcast?
What type of podcasts do you like listening to?
Are you listening to foreign language podcasts to develop your foreign language skills?
Can you recommend any good Podcasts you're listening to at the moment? (Since this is a language platform, suggestions of Podcasts in all languages are welcome), and why do you recommend this podcast?

Can't wait to see your replies,
Corrections will be given to English language learners who take part in this discussion. If you do not want corrections, please state so at the end of your post.

Here are my answers to the questions below .....

What makes a podcast a good podcast?
Of course the content in very important. I like informative podcasts and podcasts which have very open discussions about sociology, history, cultural issues etc. Also the sound is very important - when I'm listening to a podcast I like it to sound like the person is sitting next to me, just like a conversation. Therefore I appreciate Podcasters who use good equipment and are considerate about echoes, popping the microphone etc.

What type of podcasts do you like listening to?
There are some very funny podcasts out there which reviews books etc. I also enjoy the crime story podcasts. Also I enjoy discussion on social and cultural events happening today, but not when the podcasters have a political agenda on topics.

Are you listening to foreign language podcasts to develop your foreign language skills?
No, Im not sure if I have the level of Spanish to be able to follow a podcast. The disadvantage of podcasts is there is no subtitles! But I'm open to the experience, if anyone has any recommendations.

Can you recommend any good Podcasts you're listening to at the moment? and why do you recommend this podcast? At the moment I'm catching up on The Blindboy Podcast which is great. I also like to listen to the Joe Rogan podcast (depending on his guest). My Dad wrote a Porno is very funny, and I will only listen to it at home because it makes me laugh out loud in public!
