2. Read the following text. What kind of language or languages do you think people spoke 12,000 years ago? How do you think they were the same or different from us today?

Proto-Indo-European (PIE): Proto-Indo-European is the hypothetical common ancestor of the Indo-European language family, which includes languages like English, French, Sanskrit, and many others. PIE is believed to have been spoken around 4,000 to 2,500 BCE. Linguists have reconstructed PIE through the comparative method, analyzing similarities and changes in vocabulary, grammar, and phonetics among Indo-European languages.
