It is true that Iranians don’t need a reason to enjoy some shirini (sweets) with tea in the company of friends. However, on such occasions as an engagement party, the celebration of a new born child, the purchase of a new house, car or something similar, an offering, or "soor", usually in the form of pastries, or an invitation for dinner, will be extended to their friends, or to other people they know.
