The Spanish language connects us as human beings
a year agoThe Spanish language is one of the most widespread in the world. According to a study carried out by the Washington Post and mentioned in https://www.astex.es/idiomas-mas-hablados-mundo/, Spanish ranks number 4, with almost 550 million speakers. And it is a language in full expansion.
Beyond these figures, being able to teach my language is a privilege. It not only connects me with my culture, but allows me to expand it in view of my students. Seeing how they begin to take their first steps fills me with satisfaction, seeing them deepen my language, through analysis, deductions, and abstract thoughts, makes me connect with them.
For all of the above, teaching Spanish and culture is more than a job, it is a way of getting to know others and, incidentally, getting to know yourself. Language and culture bring us closer together, reminding us that we are all inhabitants of the same planet. It is up to me to participate in that reminder by teaching Spanish.

El idioma español es uno de los más extendidos en el mundo. Según un estudio realizado por el Washington Post y mencionado en https://www.astex.es/idiomas-mas-hablados-mundo/, el español ocupa el puesto número 4, con casi 550 millones de hablantes. Y es un idioma en plena expansión.
Más allá de estas cifras, poder enseñar mi idioma es un privelegio. No solo me conecta con mi cultura, sino me permite expandirla a la vista de mis estudiantes. Ver cómo ellos comienzan a dar sus primeros pasos me llena de satisfacción, verlos profundizar en mi lengua, a través de análisis, deducciones y pensamientos abstractos, me hace conectar con ellos.
Por todo lo anterior, enseñar español y cultura es más que un trabajo, es una forma de conocer al otro y de paso, concerse a sí mismo. La lengua y la cultura nos acerca, nos recuerda que todos somos habitantes del mismo planeta. A mí me corresponde participar de ese recordatorio enseñando español.
