What is a tradition which is specific to your country?

One of the things I love about teaching online is getting to know people from all over the world. Conversing with people from China to Brazil and Latvia, I have found that I too learn new things about a country's culture and I love it.

For example, I was talking to a student from Latvia recently who told me about the "Singing and Dancing Festival" which is a huge Summer celebration https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYIgwyML7WQ and I found it fascinating!

I'm from Wales, which is a country in the UK alongside England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Wales has it's own language (Cymraeg!), a rich history and more sheep than people (3 to 1). St David's Day celebrates the life of Saint David and sees people wear traditional dress, make Welsh cakes and celebrate being Welsh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B98DiQCQAjI.

What about your country? What are your special traditions?
