"You're getting the hang of it..."

hace 6 años
Hello Verbling!

I recently had a very interesting conversation with a friend about the phrase, "getting the hang of it." It got me thinking about how the verb "hang" has so many different usages.

You can:

1. Hang an item of clothing up
2. Hang around
3. Hang out
4. Hang someone out to dry
5. Get the hang of it
6. Hang up
or even...
7. Hang it all

Test yourself, what do you think each of these mean? Are they formal or informal?
Idiomatic usage of the English language is so interesting, don't you think? Have a good day!
