My primary focus with my students is English fluency through conversation using a very natural conversational method with emphasis on exposure and input.
I focus on the language used in daily conversations, not just topic-related, the goal is to make the conversation as "every day real" as it can be. I have found that many conversation classes are designed to teach vocabulary related to a specific topic. According to my research this is a BIG and costly mistake.
My experience and research indicate that students need more than just some specific vocabulary allowing them to discuss a topic. Students need real conversation about real topics that concern them.
Through my research and experience with tens of thousands of learners in over 16 years and 79 countries it is conclusive that learning through experience in real situations where the learner is actually involved in the act of speaking and listening while engaged in actual conversation is the best way to learn. It is far superior to static exercises, repetitious drills, or books and worksheets that are specifically designed for students.
Actual time spent immersed, engaged in interesting conversation has been proven to be a better learning environment than the formal classroom.
With this in mind I developed the concept of Redefining the Learning Experience, this is what I call the “Self-Directed Learning Method.” This puts the student in the driver’s seat, the student has to be in control of their own learning experience. With this method the student is empowered to actively choose opportunities to use the language, find the people and the opportunities to talk and use the language. The student will discover the words and phrases they will need for the conversations on their own through their own experiences. There is no way to get all this experience from a book or a worksheet. This is the very reason that the books and fill-in-the-blank worksheets have very little value in the beginning and intermediate learning environments.
As a student you need a coach that will open the doors for you and let you discover for yourself what is there on the other side. All too often teachers are trying to tell the students what to think, what to see, what to say, what to do, instead of letting the student take control and direct their own learning experience.
I will be coaching you on the use of Functional Language For You To Use Immediately. You will make mistakes, this is to be expected. I want you to make mistakes because this is what will trigger a deeper level of learning for you, this is the entry point in creating more neuroplasticity which will aid you in learning faster.
With me as your English Language Coach, we will focus on functional language through meaningful conversation aimed at stretching you beyond your comfort zone each lesson. Each lesson you will leave the lesson better than you were when you started, moving you closer to your goal daily.
As your Coach, I will select purposeful and authentic tasks for you as a student, that allow you to gain a deeper depth of knowledge as you follow-up on topics after our discussions.
Topic: Future of Technology (expand student to B2+)
Discussion: Student will share their ideas, opinions, and experiences about the future of technology and how this will impact their business and personal life.
Task: The student will prepare by watching videos and independent research to formulate and express their ideas and concepts regarding the topic.
Vocabulary: The student will discover new vocabulary, as well as idioms for everyday use through the videos as well as the conversation in the lesson.
Outcome: The student will expand their speaking level towards B2+ . working on vocabulary, cohesion, and tonal markers.

*** Please understand I do not work with students under the age 18 due to the unconventional methods I use that contradict their academic studies.
*** Unfortunately this needs to be mentioned. Please be respectful, understanding, and patient as I am living in the Philippines and things do not always run so smoothly as they do in other countries. If you are rude, disrespectful, or impolite I will encourage you to find another teacher, as there are many amazing teachers here that are more than eager to work with you. I will respectfully, and happily end our lesson, and refund your payment back to you. I am here to help you achieve your goals in becoming a successful English speaker.
*** If you would be so kind as to book your lessons on the hour when possible. For example please book your lesson at 12:00 pm instead of 12:30pm to 1:30pm,. This limits the number of students that can take classes. If the available time is 1:00pm then please schedule your class at 1:00pm or at 2:00pm, please do not schedule your lessons on the half hour, unless you are booking a trial lesson that is only 30 minutes.

***Before our lesson begins be sure to check your microphone, speakers, and video and make sure you have a good internet connection.
****Please avoid using your mobile phone for our lessons it drastically limits our interactions. I use a lot of visuals and it will be difficult for you to interact in the lesson if you are using your phone.
***I have built into my lesson plan 3 short breaks during our lesson so you can be fresh and in a peak state during our time together.
**** PLEASE NOTE: Last minute and same day cancellations will NOT be refunded as per Verbling policy, unless there is an BONAFIDE EMERGENCY situation. If you book a lesson and believe you won't be able to make it- please unschedule or reschedule your lesson as soon as possible.
**** MISS A LESSON:
Just as you value your time, I also value our time together and will strive to be on time unless of course there is an emergency or technical issue. If you can not attend your lesson, simply unschedule the lesson, within the 12 hours prior to your lesson in accordance with Verbling's policy.
There are no refunds for missed lessons- if you think you will not make it in time- please reschedule your lesson as soon as you know you cannot attend so that the time can be open for another student. Simply, "I forgot about our lesson," or "I was mistaken on the time," is not an acceptable excuse for missing a lesson. This is a professional environment conduct yourself accordingly.
**** LATE FOR A LESSON:
Please keep in mind I value my times just as you do. I will wait in the lesson 15 minutes if you do not attend the lesson in this time frame I will then end the lesson. Please understand should this happen you will be charged for the entire lesson.
If I am five or nine minutes late, it means that I am most likely preparing for your lesson, with another student, or having technical issues with the platform so please be patient.
