Hello, and thank you for considering me on your English-learning journey! I teach adults who are of intermediate-advanced level. I do not teach beginners, sorry about that! (It's just because I haven't had the right training for that). My teaching style is relaxed, patient, and engaging. I make lessons comfortable and interesting for students, but I will also correct your mistakes and challenge you. I respect each student's learning style and can adapt to suit different goals and interests. I believe in a natural, simple approach to improving English ability. For example, if you are worried about an upcoming conversation with your new boss, I will take the role of your boss and we will practice that conversation until you feel confident with it. My classes are usually conversation-based. I don't give lecture classes, and I don't have a curriculum or syllabus, but I always end up talking about grammar, idioms, vocabulary, and pronunciation in the process of having a conversation with students. If you have something specific you need to prepare for, such as an upcoming interview or presentation, I can definitely help you with that! I am also happy to answer any questions you have about material you are learning in other English classes or by yourself, and help with document editing/proofreading. I have a lot of travel experience, especially in Asia, Europe, and Mexico, which has made me comfortable relating to all kinds of people. I enjoy getting to know my students' personalities and cultures, and inspiring them to reach for their dreams! A little about me and my interests: I love reading, writing, philosophy, animals, and music (I play violin). I'm currently living a nomadic life, traveling to a different country every 3 months. All the best! -Sylvie

If you want to communicate in English at a more confident level and become a more powerful speaker, I can help you. With over 7 years experience in instructing, both in front of a group of people and one-on-one, online and offline, I can assist you in reaching your English language speaking goals. Business English practice I do specialize in the instruction of business English as I understand the challenges faced by business people when trying to communicate to and with their foreign clients. This is done through role play and by helping you to gain an understanding of the cultural differences that may be preventing you from completing your business successfully. I custom tailor my sessions with your requirements to ensure that you make the best use of your valuable time. I provide feedback on written materials such as resumes, emails, presentations and other materials as part of the customized program for you the client. Interview practice For those English learners trying to find work in a foreign company, I provide practice to improve your interview skills. As a consultant in Canada, I was interviewed many times and I bring that knowledge to my clients through mock interviews and providing general advice on how to behave and handle the stress of an interview. General conversation practice I can also provide general conversations with those people who have learnt English in the past but have not used it extensively but are now finding that they need to remove the "rust" so that they can become more confident in their speaking ability. They may be traveling for conferences or workshops or just for vacations and they want to make sure that they can be understood and that they understand conversations taking place. Again, I tailor the sessions to the client's requirements, i.e. travel and hotels, restaurants, etc. IELTS and TOEFL practice I was involved in instructing IELTS and TOEFL speaking which has helped some clients improve their IELTS speaking scores by up to 1 point. I will also provide feedback on IELTS and TOEFL written materials provided to me before the session. My background and other information I have instructed in one-on-one and group settings with my groups ranging from 4 to 20 people. The levels have been from beginner to higher level English learners and people from all education and professional backgrounds. I always try to engage all of my clients by being able to discuss many diverse topics and interests. I can provide material on a range of topics to match my client's interests and needs. I provide immediate feedback and correct my clients issues without embarrassment to the client. Book a trial session The best way to find out if we can work together to improve your English level is to book a trial session. This session will enable us to get to know each other and I can understand your requirements and develop a plan to move you towards your language goals. Making you a better speaker I understand that my clients are interested in learning to speak proper English and I strive to provide the best English learning environment possible so that the client feels that they are steadily improving. I encourage all of my clients by instilling confidence in their ability and advocating continuing practice to become even better speakers. Thank you and I look forward to talking with you. To your language learning success

Coupon available for students (message me for the code and explanation) if you buy a package of 5 classes. My name is Mary and I have been teaching ESL for four and a half years. I earned a Bachelor's degree in English from Ohio University (USA) in 2013 with a minor in Linguistics and a TEFL Certification. I then worked for a non-profit organization, Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services, teaching English to refugees from all over the world. After this position, I travelled to Cuenca, Ecuador and taught for a non-profit organization, CEDEI, for a year and a half. Both job experiences I had in this field prior did not have a lot of options for technology in the classroom but when I can I like to include articles, videos, speeches, use of Microsoft word in the classroom. I have now been teaching on Verbling Inc. for more than a year. I am very excited to continue teaching online to open up the possibilities to have a multi-media classroom. I also think that speaking and listening are the key to fluency and like to put strong emphasis on speaking practice: debates, conversation, and presentations. I also have experience with teaching paragraph structure, essay structure, and different styles of essays. I have taught grammar at all levels, also. I try to keep classes interesting with a mixture of activities and with minimal stress but well rounded knowledge of the language. My policy for missed lessons: I will wait 10 minutes for a student to arrive. If it is the first (or second for regular students) missed class and the student messages me with a reason, I will unschedule the lesson so that the student can reschedule. If this happens more than once or twice I will keep the payment for the wait time and preparation. I understand things happen, so I will forgive, once or twice of course, but I also prepare for the lessons and this is my full time job.

For the last 20 years I have been involved with international students at high school and university levels. My work has given me a lot of experience in communicating with students and families whose first language is not English. My lessons will always be based on the student's present level and interest. I like to use written examples to help students develop skills in speaking and listening. My personal interests are sports, history, politics, travel, psychology, sociology, academic planning, human relations and personal development.

WHO AM I? I'm a TESOL-certified American English teacher from New York City and a certified Speaking Examiner for Cambridge University, living and working in Portugal and Italy in the summers. I have over 15 years of teaching experience, 5 years of online teaching, with thousands of classes done on online and tens of thousands (yes, really) in traditional classrooms. I have further experience in general, academic and business English. I have taught both individuals (adults, teens and young learners) and in companies, including many you know: Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, Barclays, BP, Prada and some others. As a Certified Speaking Examiner for Cambridge University exams such as the IELTS and more, I do live assessments and I am also experienced in doing exam preparation for the following: FCE, CAE, CPE, TOEFL, BEC, IELTS, ILEC and United Nations YPP exams. HOW DO I TEACH? My mission is to put you in control of your own education! How? Through perfecting your learning skills and learning to use communication strategies. In other words, using what you already know better, and learning what you need to know, faster! I have a simple but effective strategy. Learn through communicating about what interests you! We'll talk about your experiences and link that to a topic that you should be fluent in, for your level. You'll get lots of corrections and suggestions along the way. I'll also check that you've understood the new words and can use any grammar or phrases independently from me. At the end of each class, you'll use what you've learned to do a speaking task where you show that you've mastered what you've learned. You'll always leave knowing more than you came in with, and the final task will prove it to me and, more importantly to you! WHY SHOULD YOU CARE? Because they do! Just listen to what my students are saying! Amr Saudi Arabia — October 21, 2016 it was my first class with Jon today and all what I can say that he is an outstanding tutor. He is very helpful, patient and skilled. In addition to this, he uses a great strategies with his students. Really, I recommend him to anyone wants to improve his English with a very professional tutor online, and definitely I'm going to book more classes with him. Sun China — December 1, 2016 I wanted to share something with you that I feel more comfortable with reading English. I used to read word by word, and always emphasized on the familiar word. Now I feel like I read in sentences. Thank you, you really know how to teach! Hamdy Egypt — October 15, 2015 forgive me for only rate you with only 5 stars because there isn't 100 stars, you deserve more than that. I can't describe how was this trial class is great, Jon not only one of the best teachers on verbling, He is one OF THE BEST TEACHERS ALL OVER THE WORLD. He works hardly with you and concentrate very much. He never care about time he ONLY CARE ABOUT HELPING you. Any questions, comments or requests, just message me :-)

Hi! My name is Amy. My Master's degree is in Secondary English Education, and I hold a TEFL/TESOL certification. I've been teaching English online since 2009, and I love it! Here's a little bit about who I am and what to expect in one of my classes. I've been an English teacher for over twenty years. I have experience with students ranging from very young children to post graduate students and senior adults. Since I've taught all areas of English language arts, I'm happy to help with writing, speaking, listening, or reading comprehension. I won't bore you here with all the specifics about my experience since you can see for yourself on my resume. My classes are always relaxed and encouraging. When I provide feedback, I will be positive and constructive. As a long time online tutor and as a student of language myself, I know that the best way to improve is to practice speaking skills as much as possible. I do that by asking a lot of questions and providing prompts or basic constructions for the answers. You should be proud of yourself for taking steps to improve your English, and I'd love the chance to talk to you about working together. If you don't see a time on my calendar that works for you, feel free to send me a message, and we'll see if we can work out a convenient time for both of us. Thanks!
