I’m Kevin Palmer. in 2002, at my first teaching job, I had a student named Ning. Ning was wonderful. She was intelligent, friendly, and she worked hard. Every day she studied English textbooks for 4 hours! She tried to remember 50 new vocabulary words every day! But, after 6 months of hard work, she still could not speak. Sadly, this was true for all of the students in the class. I felt terrible. So I asked other teachers for help. But they had the same problem.. very few of their students improved either. That’s when I realized something was wrong– something is wrong with normal English teaching methods. I wanted to help all of the happy, friendly, intelligent, wonderful students like Ning– and I decided I would find an answer. I would find a way to help my students speak English powerfully. Hello Friend! I hope you're having a great day! My name is Brent and I am from Santa Rosa, California. My hometown is in the California wine country, a beautiful place with outstanding weather. I have lived in Japan for thirteen years. I lived in Osaka for one year and then moved to Tokyo. I came to Japan because I am a poet and I love haiku. Japan is a wonderful country that has changed me in many positive ways. And the sushi...wow. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature/Poetry with a Minor in Education from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I am currently pursuing my Masters degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. My interests include haiku, hiking, comedy, studying Japanese, reading, food, traveling, baseball, and music. I am a very curious person and I enjoy learning about others' hobbies and interests. As a language learner myself, I understand the challenges involved with learning languages, which helps me address student concerns and needs ...
