Beyond studies and experience (which you can read below), what makes a good language teacher? I have no doubts: enthusiasm, empathy, patience and sense of humor. Without these four attributes, any robot could be a better teacher than me, am I right? I studied a master's degree at University of Barcelona in 2013 and another course at International House in 2014 to specialize as a teacher of Spanish as a second language. My passion for teaching hasn't done anything else but increasing. I love helping people all over the world to learn the language and to understand my culture. Soy Beatriz, tengo 36 años, y enseño español hace 7 años, desde las primeras palabras del idioma, después preparando estudiantes para el DELE, o alistándolos para estudiar, trabajar y/o viajar. Tengo un grado en Letras hispánicas (de literatura y lingüística) de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, una universidad muy exigente en mi país natal, Chile. Hice además un semestre en Universidad Alcalá de Henares, España, donde aprendí mucho de enseñanza de segunda lengua. Para enseñar utilizo un enfoque comunicativo, normalmente presentando una situación, luego una explicación de vocabulario y gramática, para finalmente hacer ejercicios de conversación. Aprender un idioma es una tarea muy desafiante, en la que todos nos equivocamos al principio, pero que abre muchas posibilidades de conocer culturas y lugares, de estudio, económicas y además es un excelente ejercicio para tu mente.

I am a Spanish retired who wants to teach my mother tongue to others and meet new people. I would love to share my knowledge of Spanish with whoever wants to learn it. I was born in Spain but lived many years in Venezuela. I live now in Nigrán, north west of Spain. I am always eager to have good conversations in Spanish depending on the level of the student. I can adapt my lessons to the student requirements for them to either be more informal or grammar focused. I can teach students for all levels from beginners to advanced to children, teenagers or adults. I can provide exercises as homework when and as required. I am flexible for arranging the time for the lessons as long as they happen during the day from Monday to Sunday.
