Hello everybody,

My name is Argyro and I am from Greece (a native speaker of Greek). I teach modern and ancient Greek.

I hold a four-year Bachelor's degree in "History and Archaeology" (teaching and pedagogical proficiency) and a Master's degree from the University of Oxford. I have, also, studied Classics and Political Philosophy (Ethics) at the Harvard Extension School, Art (MoMA) et.al. I hold the GTCS, the QTS, and other teaching certificates and I am a member of the Oxford Education Society.

Ι believe that apart from knowledgeable, a good teacher has to be a good listener, and a learner himself -open to ideas and suggestions -, that’s why I am, currently, studying:
a) "Special Education and Training: Diagnostics, Therapy, and Consulting"
b) "Supervision (Mentoring), Consulting and Evaluation in Education"

I try to stir away from the "model" of the austere teacher and do my best to create a bond with my students and make my lessons as fun as possible. During the first lesson, we will set the overall goals, objectives & what we want you to take away from our lessons. I will suggest certain placement tests so that we can have a clearer idea of your language level as well as of your type of learning.

Making connections between the new information and the prior knowledge, between the language we will be learning and other languages, integrating arts, music, movies & every other creative option are only some of the methods I will be using to facilitate your learning. I will give you options not for assignments but for "home-fun" as I call it. I am open to "flipping the classroom" after a while if you want to try.
