About Me

With ten years of experience in the language industry, I have taught Filipino, Spanish, and English in various settings, from international schools to private language training. I received formal training as a teacher of Filipino as a Foreign Language from Sentro Rizal, the official government institution promoting Filipino culture worldwide.

I am currently completing an MA in Araling Pilipino (Philippine Studies) at the University of the Philippines Diliman. My primary field of study is language, while my secondary field focuses on comparative literature. Additionally, I have taken advanced courses in socio-cultural studies, enhancing my understanding of how language intersects with the social, cultural, and historical contexts that shape the Philippines.

My international experience includes a teaching internship in a youth project in Romania, studying in Indonesia and Colombia under government-awarded scholarships, and working as a language assistant in a public school in Spain. These experiences have shaped my teaching approach, allowing me to integrate diverse cultural perspectives into my lessons.

At present, I teach Filipino, Spanish, and English at the secondary level in an international school in Manila under the Cambridge and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. Teaching IB fosters critical thinking and global awareness, while the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum develops academic rigor and strong language proficiency. Both programs allow me to incorporate inquiry-based and interdisciplinary approaches to language learning.

Teaching Approach and Expertise

Having grown up in Laguna, a province deeply rooted in Tagalog culture, I have a profound love for the language. It connects me to my deepest roots and is as a home I always carry. Being in the field of Philippine Studies, my classes go beyond just language instruction—I provide in-depth knowledge of Philippine linguistics, history, culture, and society.

I have also taught at universities, language schools, and private sessions for corporate clients, diplomats, travelers, and entrepreneurs. As a passionate language learner and active member of various polyglot communities, I help students navigate the complexities of language learning. I guide them in setting achievable goals, crafting effective strategies, and building habits that lead to fluency.

If you’re looking for an instructor with deep expertise in Filipino language and culture, a strong academic background, and a global perspective, I would be honored to support your learning.
