Hej! My name is Amanda Christiansen. I'm from Copenhagen/Helsingør and work as a Danish lecturer at the University of Vienna. I have 5 years’ experience teaching Danish as a foreign language. I hold a B.A. in Teaching Danish, a M.A. in Scandinavian Studies and a M.A. in Teaching Danish as a Second/Foreign Language for Adults. Furthermore, being quite the language learner myself I'm very aware of the challenges and manage to apply my practical learner experiences into my teaching to create a confident, mindfulll space for my students.
My Lessons & Teaching Style:
Confidence, motivation and a conscious learner approach I believe to be the main driving forces for effective language acquirement. I aim for you to enjoy and get a lot out of every class, and by frequently applying a positive feedback loop, I will make sure that the class, our approach and the work material always stay in tune with your current needs, learning style, goals and interests.
Lessons, material and homework:
I like to use books for learning Danish as a foreign / second language. Depending on your level and learning style, I will recommend which book(s) to use or simply provide you with all the necessary material.
During the lesson, we will mainly practice reading/listening comprehension, grammar and for all pronunciation and speaking. On a regular basis, you will get homework - usually a mix of some reading/writing/listening exercises and assignments to practice the new language features from our latest lesson.
Why learning Danish online with Amanda:
"Learning Danish with Amanda is an absolute pleasure. Not only is she tailoring the content of the course exactly to one's needs, she is also providing valuable background information as well as additional sources in order be able to deepen the understanding of the language in between classes. I also want to highlight her focus on the spoken language while at the same time not neglecting the relevant theoretical information needed to get a good understanding. I can highly recommend her Danish course."
