About Me
- About me
Hi! My name is Amanda Christiansen. I’m originally from Copenhagen/Helsingør and currently work as a Danish lecturer at the University of Vienna. I have been teaching Danish as a foreign language since 2016 and truly enjoy helping students discover the language and culture.
I hold a B.A. in Teaching Danish, an M.A. in Scandinavian Studies and an M.A. in Teaching Danish as a Second/Foreign Language for Adults.
As someone who loves learning languages myself, I know how exciting – and sometimes challenging – the process can be. Because of this, I focus on creating a relaxed, supportive and confident learning environment where you feel comfortable speaking and making mistakes. That’s often where the real progress happens.
- My lessons & teaching style
For me, confidence and motivation are key to successful language learning. My goal is for you to enjoy every lesson while making clear progress toward your goals.
I adapt each lesson to your level, learning style and interests, and I regularly check in to make sure the material and approach work well for you. Together we create a learning process that feels motivating, structured and effective.
- Lessons, material & homework
In our lessons I mainly use digital materials and will provide everything we need. If you prefer working with a physical textbook as well, we can find one that suits you.
During the lessons we typically work with reading and listening comprehension, grammar, pronunciation and — most importantly — speaking practice.
You will also regularly receive homework, always a mix of reading, writing and listening exercises that help you practise the new language we worked on in class.
