🙋 Hello, my dear Russian learners! Здравствуйте, мои дорогие ученики!

ENG

Do you know how to say «How was your day» in Russian?
Have you ever asked your Russian friend about their day, week, holiday or maybe a year? Or you wanted to ask but didn’t know how?

If you’ve never thought of this phrase you may be a bit surprised that the Russian version of this question literally means «How did your day pass»?
So, let’s fill in this gap!

The phrase «How was your …?» in Russian is

👉 «Как прошёл / прошла / прошло / прошли …?». So you have probably already guessed that the form of the verb has to match the subject, the word you’re asking about. Remember that the subject comes in the Nominative case.

✏️ Как прошёл твой / ваш день? – How was your day?
✏️ Как прошла твоя / ваша неделя? – How was your week?
✏️ Как прошло твоё / ваше воскресенье? – How was your Sunday?
✏️ Как прошли твои / ваши выходные? – How was your weekend?
* «твой» is the singular and informal version of «you»
* «ваш» is the formal or plural «you»

By the way, forms «прошёл / прошла / прошло / прошли» are the past tense forms of the perfective verb «пройти». This prefixed verb of motion has the imperfective pair 👉 «проходить – пройти» and means «to pass, to get through».

Фраза «How was your …?»

Этот глагол движения с приставкой имеет пару несовершенного вида «проходить – пройти» и значит «to pass, to get through».

🤗 Мой день прошел замечательно, а ваш?

I hope it was useful. Я надеюсь, это было полезно.
