Can you understand fast English?

I want a cup a tea in in apple pie.

I want a cup of tea and an apple pie.
It can be difficult when you listen to native English speakers. When students learn new words, they are usually drilled/practiced individually. The problem is that many words completely change when we say them in sentences. What's worse, some words that are spelled so differently are said exactly the same way!
