Is music a language?
Music is indeed a language, with rules and structure. Music can be written and read. It is a means of communication which uses sound instead of words.

Beethoven began losing his hearing in his mid-20s, until he became deaf. And yet, he continued composing without his hearing. Knowing the rules of how music is made, he could compose a piece of music without hearing it, because he was a master of the language of music.
