Past Simple or Present Perfect?
4 years agoImagine you are in an interview situation and talking about previous experience connected with the role you are applying for. Which tense would you choose to use?
For example, you are having an interview for a job that requires a good level of English. Your regular classes stopped a few months ago, after two years. Which would you say:
a. I studied English for two years.
b. I have studied English for two years.
The studying began and ended in the past. The experience of studying and the learning gained from it all, however, is still a present reality. (They were great Verbling lessons, so you haven't forgotten everything!)
