Studying Spanish for English Speakers? Some parts are easy, some difficult.

Starting off is a little tedious; learning verb conjugations and trying to wrap your head around subject genders might be confusing at first, but with practice, it gets easier.

Some English speakers think Spanish is easy because it is spelled (and pronounced) in predictable ways and the sentence structure is often similar to English. Because English has a lot of vocabulary from Romance languages, you will find that many words in Spanish "sort of sound like" English words.

But Spanish can also be tricky! There are tenses and moods that we don't have in English. For instance, Spanish has two main ways to describe the past, and we basically have one. We also don't really conjugate verbs to the degree that Spanish does. We don't have object pronouns or reflexive verbs to the degree that Spanish does.
