Thai seasons
6 years agoThere are two ways to say 'season' in Thai.
1. ฤดู / réu-doo
2. หน้า / nâa
Thais use 'หน้า' more than 'ฤดู' in spoken language.
ฤดู is for written language.
For example: I don't like summer
We say >> ฉัน ไม่ ชอบ หน้า ร้อน
chăn mâi chôp nâa rón
more than >> ฉัน ไม่ ชอบ ฤดู ร้อน
chăn mâi chôp réu-doo rón
Thailand has 3 seasons.
1) ฤดูร้อน / หน้าร้อน
réu-doo rón / nâa rón
2) ฤดูฝน / หน้าฝน
sŏng ) réu-doo fŏn / nâa fŏn
3) ฤดูหนาว / หน้าหนาว
réu-doo năao / nâa năao
Winter is not very cold in Thailand.
Northern Thailand is colder than Central.
(about 5 - 10 degrees Celsius)
There are no spring or autumn in Thailand
spring = ฤดูใบไม้ผลิ /réu-doo bai mái plì
autumn = ฤดู ใบไม้ ร่วง / réu-doo bai mái rûang
- ใบไม้ / bai mái = leaf
- ผลิ / plì = bloom, blossom
- ร่วง / rûang = drop, fall off
*notice: we use ฤดู / réu-doo for spring and autumn
