Why is it "Facts don't matter" and not "Facts doesn't matter" ??

Hey,

I just wanted to buy a book which is called "Why Facts don't matter".

And there came a question in my mind:

Why is it "Facts don't matter"  ??

I thought "Facts" would be an "it" ? It = doesn't. Facts are not a person. 

Does anyone now what I mean ??
