Beyond studies and experience (which you can read below), what makes a good language teacher? I have no doubts: enthusiasm, empathy, patience and sense of humor. Without these four attributes, any robot could be a better teacher than me, am I right? I studied a master's degree at University of Barcelona in 2013 and another course at International House in 2014 to specialize as a teacher of Spanish as a second language. I'm Hugo, from Vigo — a city on the Atlantic coast of Galicia, in the northwest of Spain. I've been teaching Spanish for ten years, to students from over 30 countries, and I still find it one of the most interesting things I do. Languages have always been central to my life. I've lived, studied and worked in Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Canada — and those experiences shaped the way I teach more than any certificate did. Before becoming a full-time teacher, I worked in engineering, hospitality and education. At some point I stopped pretending those were leading somewhere else. My lessons are personal, flexible and human. I don't give the same class to every student. Hello, my name is Dianela, I've been teaching Spanish and English for more than 20 years. I studied Education at the University of Zulia in Venezuela. When I graduated from the university I spent some time travelling around UK, France and Spain. I stayed in Madrid, Spain and I've been living here for 16 years, so I can teach Latin American Spanish and Spanish from Spain, which are very different.
