Arabic is not difficult. Whatever your mother tongue is, there will be similarities to Arabic because language is the tool that humankind utilizes to communicate with one another. We all came from the same origin. We all use the same tool to communicate (i.e., language). Accordingly, although we use different languages, our languages – as well as we – came from the same origin. Therefore, our tongues are similar in at least one feature, even if we are not able to notice that. I'm a12+ year professional Arabic language teacher; Multi-Lingual; Professional work ethic; Patient; Enjoys interacting with people from other countries; Genuine interest in different cultures.

Hi! My name is Zoia. I am from Syria and I am studying International Relations at the University of British Columbia. One of the reasons why I am pursuing this major is that I am fascinated by different cultures and their interactions. There is a strong and complex connection between the language and the culture it is used in which led me to develop a passion for languages since I was young, hence I learned English, Spanish and Russian. While I was learning these languages, I came across many difficulties one might face learning a new language, and therefore, I have developed many strategies to overcome those difficulties. My native language is Arabic, and I have taught it to international students when I was studying in Armenia! I teach mainly Levantine dialect. I understand that people decide to learn new languages for different reasons, therefore, I make sure to acknowledge the goals my students strive for and I customize my lessons in order to achieve those goals.
Learning languages is my passion. I enjoy learning the art of communication with people from different corners of the world. I've always tried to self-teach myself languages, to me this process has made me aware of the difficulties surrounding language learning, and how to tackle them. I've lived and worked with people speaking over 50 different mother tongues, this allowed me to understand that learning is a personal experience, where one method does not apply for all. Therefore, I decided to customize my teaching and build it around personal learning profile, style, and history of the student. I believe that learning a language does not only allow you to speak it, but it teaches you the mindset, history, and culture of people who speak it. This is a goal which I aim to reach while teaching Arabic, I hope to transfer my Syrian culture through language, syntax, and grammar (In a fun way, away from rigid learning techniques!)
