I am a 39-year-old Dutch and Frisian native tutor. I would love to help you learn the Dutch language, customs, and culture. In the first 32 years of my life, I was in The Netherlands where I have been teaching, training, and mentoring written and spoken Dutch to all skill levels. In the past 7 years, I have been living throughout Europe. Whilst enriching my general cultural knowledge, I have had the pleasure of having students from many different backgrounds from all over the globe. Hi there I was born in Belgium and Dutch is my native language. I have always been interested in languages, not just using the language correctly but also trying to understand the evolution of the language and comparing different language groups. Although I was educated as an engineer, after the birth of the children and being always on the move, I had to reinvent myself. I started to give language courses. Soon, I found out that I really enjoyed this and that I was actually good at it. I always adapt my lessons to the needs and wishes of the student.

I teach because it is fun. At secondary school, my friends asked me to help them with math and economics. I started teaching Dutch as a student at university. My pupils were usually business school students. Later on, I moved to a different university, in Nijmegen, and taught subjects like environmental economics, history and Dutch language. After finishing another project at the university, I decided to start my own IT company. As a company owner, I do projects for companies all over the world, including the department of Languages and Cultures at the University of London. Currently, I spend approximately half of my time as a language teacher and half of my time as an IT expert. I have also been working as a voluntary language teacher at a local organization in my city, which helps immigrants to start a new life in their new home country. I have worked for several Dutch language training schools like Elycio Talen, Taleninstituut and Easy Dutch with students from all over the world. My methods: I always try to first focus on the pronunciation and work our way up from there, because I think that you can't build a good house without a steady foundation..
