Speaking Practice - English Tutors & Teachers
****CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW STUDENTS**** Hi all! I'm Abby and I have been an EFL teacher for the past 15 years in Japan and now online. During this time I have taught students of all ages from preschool to graduate school and even more mature adults. I have experience teaching English conversation, grammar, writing and reading skills. I can also help you to prepare for the TOEFL or IELTS as well as for interviews: job or university. As a teacher, I am patient and tailor my lessons to fit the individual student. Every one is different and learns differently so we will work together to find the best way to help you achieve your dreams of being fluent in English. I look forward to seeing you in my class!!!
Hi, my name is Cooper White. I'm a native English Speaker, and I have a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I've been teaching English online for two years, and I love it. I've spent many years traveling around the world, which is where I got my inspiration to teach English. I'm also fluent in Spanish. I understand what it's like to learn a second language because I did it myself, first with Spanish, and more recently, with Mandarin Chinese. I can teach you English in Spanish! My method of teaching is very applied-we will have conversations, improv acting, read newspaper articles, listen to audio, grammar lessons when they come up, and do writing exercises as homework. I try to do all skills-speaking, listening, reading, pronunciation, grammar, writing, all in the same class. What are your language learning goals?
**********............WATCH MY VIDEO TO SEE MY TEACHING SKILL...............********** I like my job! Just two weeks after I began teaching in 2009, I realised that I had a talent. Therefore, teaching has always been easy for myself and I feel very confident. Many long-term students have become my friends. I have several unique selling points that are important when future students are searching for their teacher. Slowly, step by step, I too learnt elementary grammar together with my students and, since then, I can competently explain it. I enjoy grammar whereas the majority of native speakers cannot explain grammar at all, because they do not know it themselves. They learnt English as children and were never taught the rules of grammar at school. Furthermore, I have a nice British accent. In fact, my accent quickly improved when I first lived overseas 17 years ago. I began to deliberately speak clearly, carefully pronouncing every word, so that people could understand me more easily. This quickly became my normal speech. Furthermore, now I can speak conversational Russian. Finally, I am a patient person. Some children are much happier showing me their toys, in comparison to reading from a book or learning an English story for school. However, this is very normal. I allow the children to release their excitement as they show me such toys and pets, or tell me about their weekend, before guiding them back to the tasks required in our lesson. In fact, many of the intelligent children do not even need my help to do their school homework. They are clever enough to do it themselves, answering the questions often quicker than I can. However, they enjoy the company and moral support of studying with me. It provides them with motivation. I have a qualifying law degree from London.
I have a Masters degree in teaching ESL (as well as a Masters in city planning from Harvard) and also work as a speaking rater for TOEFL iBT. I have taught university-level ESL for a number of years, with almost a thousand students of all nationalities, from beginners to advanced. I would describe myself as relaxed, encouraging, and sympathetic. I home-schooled my own three children from kindergarten through high school and I believe a stress-free, happy, and enjoyable learning environment keeps students motivated and enthusiastic. I specialize in teaching speaking and writing for English language tests. I focus on the specific skills you need to get good scores and I give you plenty of practice during each class session. My availability is limited because of my TOEFL scoring job and other tutoring jobs. If you would like to schedule a lesson when I am not available, message me ... I may be able to work you in! Because my teaching hours are limited, PLEASE schedule your lessons ON THE HOUR (meaning, for example, at 9:00, not 9:30). Otherwise I will ask you to reschedule a half-hour earlier or later. Most lessons will be 60 minutes long, but I might shorten the lesson to 55 minutes for brief breaks between students. For lots of articles about grammar, vocabulary, and other topics, read my blog at http://eslbootcampglobal.com/blog/ *** I started teaching ESL to foster understanding and better relationships among people around the world. Therefore, I strongly object to the policies of our current U.S. President. ***

I know I can serve you well, so please give me a try. I can't wait to get started!! At present, I am not taking any students under the age of 18. The focus of my lessons are more for adult learners.
Hello everyone. My name is Russell. I have taught English for many years. I have taught all levels, from beginner to advanced, or from levels A1 to C2. Mainly, I have taught in Cape Town, but I have taught students from all over the world. I like to find out what interests my students, as most of us enjoy talking about what interests us. Because of this, a have a good general knowledge of business, and I would be happy to include the world of business in our lessons. I look forward to working with you as you learn English.
