Writing Correction - English Tutors & Teachers
Hi, my name's Art, I started teaching ESL 34 years ago in Salamanca Spain, then continued part-time while also teaching Spanish as a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University where I received an M.A. in Hispanic Literature in 1988. I left another career about 8 years ago when my Venezuelan wife and I moved back to her home country, and there I also happily returned to my first career of teaching ESL. I began teaching there at the university level at the Universidad Arturo Michelena, but then realized I felt called to tutoring one student at a time. In March, at the urging of the US embassy in Venezuela, my wife and I returned to the USA. The good news for students is that we have 100-122 Mega speed internet so the audio and video are of excellent quality! ---Many of my students were/are preparing for TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge, NATO, or Trinity exams etc. so I have experience helping there. I got to module 3 of 5 with the ICAL TEFL institute based in London for certification in TEFL, but then realized that those courses are aimed primarily at classroom teaching methods, and have little relevance to one-on-one tutoring. If you want to know my qualifications, I suggest reading the comments of my students. They are the best judges of tutor quality. If you need help with exam preparation, CV editing, job interviews, pronunciation, presentations, etc. I'd be glad to help. Best of luck to you in your English studies, and remember never get discouraged. The key is hard work, and lots of patience and determination. Cheers!
Hi, I'm Peter and I teach English. I'm South African born, I've taught at various schools and lived in many countries in the ASEAN, especially Laos, Thailand and Indonesia. I want to help you achieve your purpose and open the world to you, by improving your English. Yes English is the key and we can improve your future by studying English and improving your pronunciation and hearing in conversations. You will be able to watch American movies and enjoy them. You will become part of the international English speaking community. We can have conversations about the subjects of your interest and develop your life with English becoming an asset in your life. I personally use interactive teaching as application gives awareness of use of the language and as you make use of the language it becomes a reality and grows in usage. I know we must be goal orientated so that you can achieve your purpose with learning English, I hope to see you soon so that we can plan your studies together. I've attached my CV showing my experience as teacher and my CELTA certificate as information about my history in teaching English in Laos and Thailand, in Laos I taught surgeons at the Mahosot hospital, Pankham Jampa Printers and several schools, even did editing at BKL News, and I taught in Nongkhai at the NYC college, ThaiBev management, Royal Nakhara Hotel and Convention Center, and even a year in Khonkaen. I prefer teaching with Test Teach Test as it creates interaction and applied knowledge is easily sustained. Practice makes perfect so the next lesson is always opened with what was taught in the previous lesson. That is revision and refreshing the mind and refocusing on prior taught information and application enhances actual memory. This helps to develop the thinking and through application practice as practice is the best way to learn a language.

Hello, and thank you for considering me on your English-learning journey! I teach adults who are of intermediate-advanced level. I do not teach beginners, sorry about that! (It's just because I haven't had the right training for that). My teaching style is relaxed, patient, and engaging. I make lessons comfortable and interesting for students, but I will also correct your mistakes and challenge you. I respect each student's learning style and can adapt to suit different goals and interests. I believe in a natural, simple approach to improving English ability. For example, if you are worried about an upcoming conversation with your new boss, I will take the role of your boss and we will practice that conversation until you feel confident with it. My classes are usually conversation-based. I don't give lecture classes, and I don't have a curriculum or syllabus, but I always end up talking about grammar, idioms, vocabulary, and pronunciation in the process of having a conversation with students. If you have something specific you need to prepare for, such as an upcoming interview or presentation, I can definitely help you with that! I am also happy to answer any questions you have about material you are learning in other English classes or by yourself, and help with document editing/proofreading. I have a lot of travel experience, especially in Asia, Europe, and Mexico, which has made me comfortable relating to all kinds of people. I enjoy getting to know my students' personalities and cultures, and inspiring them to reach for their dreams! A little about me and my interests: I love reading, writing, philosophy, animals, and music (I play violin). I'm currently living a nomadic life, traveling to a different country every 3 months. All the best! -Sylvie
Hi all! I'm currently accepting new students, so please get in touch. My goal is to help you reach the confidence and fluency of a native speaker! Nice to meet you! I’m Jake, a native English teacher from the United Kingdom. I’m TEFL-qualified with advanced degrees in languages and translation, and have been teaching English for several years. In 2016 I made the move to teaching English online, and I’ve never looked back. My students come from all over the world, and have a huge variety of different goals. I like to adjust my sessions to suit the needs of each individual student, to ensure that you get the most out of our time together. Whether you’re learning English for your IELTS or TOEFL exam, for your professional development, or simply out of a love of the language, we can create a plan together to reach those goals. I look forward to meeting you, and wish you the best on your quest to master English! – Jake. *PLEASE NOTE 1: I have different rates for teaching children, so if you would like me to teach your child, please let me know in advance of the lesson. Many thanks.
