Hello! My name is Miwa, and my family home is on Sado Island, a small and beautiful island in Japan. My father’s family has been rice farmers there for over 200 years. It’s a peaceful village where people live close to nature, helping each other with rice and vegetable farming. Every year, the community holds a traditional festival at the local shrine to pray for a good harvest—one of the traditions I treasure deeply. In the university, I studied how to teach Japanese to foreign people. I think the most important thing is to relax and enjoy the lessons. After graduating, I worked for a localization division of a Japanese Game Publisher in Osaka for a period of 13 years. My duties involved the translation (from English to Japanese) of in-game content and manual booklets for more than 100 games. I understand there are many Japanese phrases that cannot be translated literally to your language. Also, Keigo (Honorific) may be complicating.
