About Me

Hi everyone! Nice to meet you!

Learn French through active practice in a dynamic, enthusiastic, and interactive atmosphere, guided by an experienced native French instructor. Because language is deeply connected to culture—habits, history, music, literature, ways of thinking, and more—I invite you to fully immerse yourself in a French environment during our lessons. This approach makes learning easier, more enjoyable, and far more useful in your everyday French life.

My methods are proven to work: dedicated students make fast, noticeable progress. You won’t be left searching for your words* and you’ll soon be ready to embark on the adventure of Voltaire’s language!

* In French, we say: « Ne pas avoir sa langue dans sa poche », literally “not to keep one’s tongue in one’s pocket.”

Before going further:
*IMPORTANT NOTICE*
I hold every student to the same standard of mutual respect. I take this value very seriously, and I do not compromise on it. In return for the time, energy, and professionalism I invest in each lesson, I expect students to behave with the same level of respect and consideration.

Due to a recent increase in disrespectful and inappropriate behaviour, it saddens me to have to write this, but I feel it is necessary to clarify below what respect entails.
Note that any repeated failure to meet these expectations will lead to one warning, then exclusion from the class.

> What does respect mean in my class?
-Being present and ready at the start of your lesson, avoiding repeated lateness, and offering an immediate apology if an absence or a lateness occurs.
-Greeting the teacher when the lesson start. Taking the initiative to lauch the conversation from time to time. Be proactive from the very start!
-Limiting cancellations and doing everything possible to avoid them. Please remember that when you commit to a lesson, there is a human being (your teacher) who prepares and organizes her schedule and material in advance.
-Not interrupting while someone is speaking.
-Not contesting established facts.
-Not adopting a defensive stance from the outset, as it doesn't foster learning-friendly environment at all. I'm always ready for challenges and ready to double check if I have good reasons to doubt about anything, but I refuse to cope with dismissive comments or attitude challenging the teacher’s expertise. Your job is to be open minded, curious and flexible.
-Writing in full, proper and polite sentences in all written communication.
-Do the practice activities assigned, in accordace with the learning plan and learning style established together. They are specifically adapted for your success—trust the process. Experience incontestably shows that the most consistent and diligent students see their progress jump from week to week.
-Take your learning responsibilities seriously. It is unrealistic and unfair to shift your responsibilities onto the teacher. For instance, no reputable teacher will ever guarantee that you will reach a specific level within a fixed amount of time—that would simply be dishonest. Progress depends on many factors out of teacher's control: your personal time and energy, practice between lessons, regularity, environment, motivation, and how well you engage with the methods used.
-Handle honesty with maturity. Don’t react with frustration when reality doesn’t match your expectations —see it as an opportunity to adjust your approach!

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
___________

And now let's go on:
<A language, a culture… and a method>
As I like discovering foreign cultures and travelling, I speak English and German fluently, I understand Spanish and I´m currently learning Japanese. My knowledge in languages can facilitate the communication with my students. I've lived in several countries in Europe, in Canada and in Japan. I'm interested in art, literature, history, social topics: I consider approaching a culture way of thinking enables us to improve our language capabilities more naturally and quicker.

<A method approved by experience>
I've studied humanities (literature, philosophy, history…) and didactic methods. Then I developed my pedagogical practice, as I taught a very large spectrum of students, from different origins and all levels: preparation of school exams for teenagers and children, alphabetization or conversation courses for adults. I've created an E-learning platform, full of didactic resources, also useful for official exams for immigration and nationalization (DELF, DALF, TFI, TCF, TEF Canada).

<Your request, our goals. Learning with enthusiasm>
My lessons are based on cultural aspects: songs and movies as teaching supports, anecdotes, true stories, debates. Thus, you learn with enthusiasm what you really need in your daily life, without noticing it. According to your needs and goals, you'll benefit from didactic tools of any type (audio, reading, grammatical theory, website for education). Individualized lessons preparation, exercises correction, study tips are included. Full involvement and dynamism are expected from the students.
