About Me
[Only for Students Aged 18 and Over]
Hello! My name is Heeon Kim. I’m a native Korean speaker from Seoul, South Korea. I hold a Master’s degree in Korean Studies from Ewha University and a Certificate in Korean Language Teaching for Foreigners.
I have a lot of patience, especially with students who study Korean diligently and sincerely. I’m happy to explain grammar as many times as needed until you fully understand it. During class, I provide plenty of practice to help reinforce what you learn. Learning speed is not important—some people learn quickly, others take more time. There’s no set pace when learning a language. If you’re willing to invest time outside of class as well, I’ll do my best to help you reach your goals.
⸻
[Languages I Speak]
I can speak English, Japanese, and Chinese. I’m currently learning Norwegian. Because I’ve learned multiple languages myself, I understand how to make the language-learning process easier and more enjoyable. Based on my experiences, I design classes to be fun, simple, and effective.
⸻
[Teaching Experience]
I have been teaching Korean for over 10 years. I taught foreigners in Gangnam, Seoul for 7 years. I specialize in all levels, from beginner to advanced, as well as business Korean and TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) preparation. I’ve worked with a wide variety of students and learning styles, so whatever your goals may be, I can help you achieve them in an effective way.
⸻
[How I Teach]
For absolute beginners and Level 1 learners, I teach Korean using English, Japanese, Chinese, or Norwegian to support understanding.
For Level 2 beginners and intermediate learners, I primarily use Korean during lessons to encourage speaking and listening practice.
I tailor each class to suit your goals and learning style. For example:
• If you want to focus on speaking, we can have conversation-based lessons using grammar or topics you’re interested in.
• If grammar is your focus, we will work through grammar points together and practice them in sentences.
⸻
[What to Expect]
I won’t promise that you’ll become fluent just by taking my class—but I can promise to help you improve your Korean skills, gain confidence in speaking, and stay motivated throughout your learning journey.
⸻
[Lesson Plan]
Step 1: Learn the Korean alphabet (Hangul) based on its principles
Step 2: Understand the basic structure of Korean sentences
Step 3: Make sentences using verbs and adjectives
Step 4: Practice communication and speaking skills
Step 5: Discuss topics that interest you
