عني
As a native German speaker who has been living near Cape Town, South Africa, since 2002, I am passionate about helping learners use German with confidence in real life and not just in textbooks.
I have taught German to children, teenagers, and adults from many different countries and professional backgrounds, and I enjoy adapting each lesson to the learner in front of me or on the computer screen. My teaching philosophy is simple: structure, practicality, and a supportive learning atmosphere where mistakes are part of progress and the process.
I focus strongly on real-life communication and natural German, as well as well-structured grammar explanations, targeted vocabulary, and useful expressions. "Redemittel"), and clear guidance towards personal goals such as exams, relocation, work, or everyday conversations.
My students especially value my fun and patient teaching style, my ability to explain complex grammar simply and logically, and the fact that every lesson is tailored to their level, interests, and pace. I believe that learners make the best progress when they feel understood, encouraged, and challenged in the right way.
From 2010 to 2014, I hosted my own German-language radio show on HelderbergFM 93.6, and I continue to work as a professional voice-over artist. This background allows me to place special emphasis on pronunciation, listening skills, and natural intonation in my lessons.
My love for languages led me to study English, French, Spanish, Afrikaans, and isiXhosa at university. In 2008, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Cape Town. I also spent more than a decade working in customer service and accounts for a German television provider in South Africa (2006–2020), where clear communication, accuracy, and cultural sensitivity were essential skills I now bring directly into my teaching.
Today, I work independently as a German tutor, translator, scriptwriter, voice-over artist, and virtual assistant, collaborating with clients both locally and internationally. I am also a proud member of SATI (the South African Translators’ Institute).
Whether you are just starting your German journey, preparing for an exam, or aiming to use German confidently in your professional or private life, I will support you with structured, motivating, and personalised lessons - and help you build real, lasting language skills.
