My name is Jamie Chen. I have been teaching Verbling for six years. My approach to teaching is immersive language learning, which means I will speak in Mandarin and expect students to do the same. You will find yourself applying what’s in the book immediately and building confidence in speaking to natives.
I have experience teaching absolute beginner to intermediate Mandarin learner (for those who doesn’t have Chinese background). After years of teaching, I have developed a way of teaching without over-explaining and leaving time for practicing.
I also have experience offering free-talk lessons to overseas Chinese. Many students who have a Chinese background struggle to express themself accurately. The reasons are usually a lack of vocabulary an...

My name is June. I am a Chinese native speaker from Taiwan and I have been teaching Chinese for 4 years.
In the class, the main language will be Mandarin, which I will speak mostly Mandarin and the students will do the same. The beginner lesson will be arranged like this as well. This will help you start understanding a language without doing the translation process.
For my background, I was born and raised in Taiwan. I speak Mandarin with the standard Taiwan Mandarin accent. It is considered to be the Southern accent, which we don’t have “er” suffix for many words. I teach Traditional Chinese writing. The lesson with only typing words can be in Simplified, too.
Now I love talking to people from different countries and make new friends with my non-native language. And we know you can make it too!
**What you can expect from my class**
• Formal and informal conversation
• Listening
• Pronunciation
• Vocabulary
• Grammar
• Slang and common expression
• Reading

🔺 REMINDER:
I got diagnosed with Autonomic Nervous System Disorder and severe depression this year. Most people who don't know me "well enough" don't recognized.
Staring and focusing on one same thing for long time is difficult for me. I basically wake up with 0% battery if not minus.
After each lesson, I'm drained, (if not dead) not personal to anyone. It's just my body and brain want and need to shut down. So I'm NOT able to provid the PDF & audio recording asap as before (ie. within 24 hours) anymore.
Sometimes you will see me even shut down for a few seconds during the lesson or blank for a while because my attention is noted as poor from the doctor.
BUT, my current students and still all stay with me and still enjoy learning with me. Also, I still gain new students after trial...

I was a tenured professor of Chinese language, literature, culture, and cinema at UT Austin before returning to the west coast to be with my family. A published author in both English and Chinese, I am enthusiastic about helping you become an even more effective communicator in Chinese, in writing or speaking or both! I have interpreted for a few Chinese writers when they came to the US on a book tour. I can't wait to work with you as you reach your linguistic goals.

Hi, I'm Tiffany! A certified Chinese teacher and a trained IB PYP educator, who devote to teaching students from 4-12 years old and adults from beginner.
How to improve the efficiency of online Chinese teaching? Why is there no improvement after studying for a long time? I believe these issues must have been considered as parents, although I'm a full-time language teacher in Singapore, I've been faced with some challenges when the online lesson conducting.
I like to teach language by concept and inquiry, to engage students to voice up the knowledge they learn. Affected by the philosophy of IB teaching, I prefer to teach students Chinese from concepts and needs, starting with fun content and questions, such as dinosaurs, what do dinosaurs like to eat? Height of dinosaurs, how do dinosaurs walk? Why did dinosaurs become extinct? Each question will contain knowledge, concepts, and grammar. For example, the food that dinosaurs like to eat can be divided into meat and plants. After tha...
