Hello, and thank you for considering me on your English-learning journey! I teach adults who are of intermediate-advanced level. I do not teach beginners, sorry about that! (It's just because I haven't had the right training for that). My teaching style is relaxed, patient, and engaging. I make lessons comfortable and interesting for students, but I will also correct your mistakes and challenge you. I respect each student's learning style and can adapt to suit different goals and interests. I believe in a natural, simple approach to improving English ability. For example, if you are worried about an upcoming conversation with your new boss, I will take the role of your boss and we will practice that conversation until you feel confident with it. My classes are usually conversation-based. I don't give lecture classes, and I don't have a curriculum or syllabus, but I always end up talking about grammar, idioms, vocabulary, and pronunciation in the process of having a conversation with students. If you have something specific you need to prepare for, such as an upcoming interview or presentation, I can definitely help you with that! I am also happy to answer any questions you have about material you are learning in other English classes or by yourself, and help with document editing/proofreading. I have a lot of travel experience, especially in Asia, Europe, and Mexico, which has made me comfortable relating to all kinds of people. I enjoy getting to know my students' personalities and cultures, and inspiring them to reach for their dreams! A little about me and my interests: I love reading, writing, philosophy, animals, and music (I play violin). I'm currently living a nomadic life, traveling to a different country every 3 months. All the best! -Sylvie

Coupon available for students (message me for the code and explanation) if you buy a package of 5 classes. My name is Mary and I have been teaching ESL for four and a half years. I earned a Bachelor's degree in English from Ohio University (USA) in 2013 with a minor in Linguistics and a TEFL Certification. I then worked for a non-profit organization, Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services, teaching English to refugees from all over the world. After this position, I travelled to Cuenca, Ecuador and taught for a non-profit organization, CEDEI, for a year and a half. Both job experiences I had in this field prior did not have a lot of options for technology in the classroom but when I can I like to include articles, videos, speeches, use of Microsoft word in the classroom. I have now been teaching on Verbling Inc. for more than a year. I am very excited to continue teaching online to open up the possibilities to have a multi-media classroom. I also think that speaking and listening are the key to fluency and like to put strong emphasis on speaking practice: debates, conversation, and presentations. I also have experience with teaching paragraph structure, essay structure, and different styles of essays. I have taught grammar at all levels, also. I try to keep classes interesting with a mixture of activities and with minimal stress but well rounded knowledge of the language. My policy for missed lessons: I will wait 10 minutes for a student to arrive. If it is the first (or second for regular students) missed class and the student messages me with a reason, I will unschedule the lesson so that the student can reschedule. If this happens more than once or twice I will keep the payment for the wait time and preparation. I understand things happen, so I will forgive, once or twice of course, but I also prepare for the lessons and this is my full time job.

Hello! I am the right teacher for intermediate and advanced adult students of English who appreciate a prepared and organized but still fun and relaxed approach to their language-learning process. Do you need someone knowledgeable about language and the learning process? I am that teacher. I have a Master's degree in English, certifications to teach from several states in the U.S., decades of experience teaching, scored in the 98th percentile on the GRE in verbal reasoning, and have learned foreign languages myself, so I know how you feel and the challenges you face. As a linguist, I can help you perfect your conversation. I am a grammar and style wizard, so if you need someone to help you with compositions and papers, I am the person for you. If you are a person who enjoys creative writing, you will be happy to know that I have had short stories and poetry published in online magazines and my young-adult novel "Backbiters" was released this summer (you can see it on Amazon!). In other words, I can help you polish your creative pieces. I have taught ages 13 to 70+. I have taught face-to-face and online. Besides my native language of English, I speak Spanish and some French and Japanese. I dabble in Italian also. Regardless of your native language, I am willing to learn about it, so I can best help you learn English. Learning a language takes time and effort, but I can make it as fun and efficient as possible for you, using dedication, compassion, and effective pedagogy. When I am not teaching, I have many interests. I read. I write. I love theater, art, and blues music. I swim, kayak, bike, run, and do yoga. I have to be active because I love to go to ethnic restaurants and cook ethnic food – of course traveling to other countries to experience new cultures is the best! I also have an addiction to documentaries of all sorts because life is so interesting and a guilty pleasure of watching talent T.V. auditions.  Whatever your interests, needs, and goals, I can help you reach them by assisting you to learn accurate, useful, and beautiful English. Let’s start now!

The new school year is ramping up while Summer (in the Northern Hemisphere) is winding down! Let's make the most of what remains of 2018 by working together towards the goal of improving your English. :) Here's a little bit about me: My name is Donald and I live in Chicago: the beautiful City by the Lake. I have a Master's Degree in English and have taught English Language and Literature for nearly ten years to both adults and teenagers. English is a beautiful, complex, and -- at times -- maddening language. But we love it and want to keep improving in it, right? :) Take a look at the introductory video here (switch on the English-language subtitles by clicking the CC button in the lower right corner!) and thank you for considering me as a partner in your English-language journey!

Hi, I'm Richard, from the U.K. and thanks for clicking onto my profile. I've been a TEFL teacher for many years; teaching English in many great countries especially in Thailand. Aside from teaching, I've also been a Radio Presenter for various Radio Stations. I have such a passion for music plus I get the opportunity to interact with so many wonderful people that enjoy practising and developing their conversational skills with me, and of course requesting their favourite songs. Having recently been introduced to teaching online gives me great pleasure building confidence and to help develop my students' speaking and listening skills. So whether you are elementary or advanced, I'm here and ready to meet up with you. See you soon!
