Welcome to Verbling!
I am a TESOL certified Adult Education teacher with nearly 20 years experience in teaching English to those who are learning it as a second, third, (or fourth!) language.
I spent two years living overseas and understand what it is like to learn a new language. My husband is from Brazil, so my children and I are currently learning Portuguese. We love languages in our home!
My teaching career has lead me through academic settings (public school/community college), non-profit environments, and private tutoring.
I spent many years working with preliterate and beginning students, building foundations for life skills and further education. For the past five years, I have been teaching advanced grammar and reading skills to adults working towards the TABE and TOEFL tests.
Before becoming a teacher, I studied and worked in the medical field and I enjoy teaching this specialized English.
I believe in empowering students for successful participation in their communities by accepting them at their current level and helping them make progress towards their personal goals.
Language learning is a journey and I would love to accompany you along your way!
