About Me
I have been working as an English teacher for 11 years full- time. I have also taught Spanish and French. I have a bachelor's degree from the University of California in Language and worked with the United States Peace Corps as an English teacher and with the Cambridge School system. I am a qualified teacher and have ESL, TOESL and TEFL certificates. I am also IELTS exam trained. I work with students ages 4 and above.
I naturally have the ideal and neutral American accent from the Northern Midwest of the United States. This is the accent that radio and television personalities train to speak like and is the most common reasons students work with me. I am trained and experienced in English linguistics and use this to help my students improve pronunciation.
I teach accent reduction, business English, English for travel, intermediate to advanced conversation, verb exercises, colloquial practice, and listening comprehension. I help with all exam preparations.
My teaching style in communicative. The goal of my lessons is that my students speak clearly and effectively from the beginning. Speaking a new language is all about being able to talk, so that is the top priority! Learning a language should be fun and challenging at the same time and my lessons do both.
